One of the quintessential Alicante traditions after the bonfires is the pilgrimage of Santa Faz, Costa Blanca, known as “La Peregrina” (the pilgrimage). This celebration in Costa Blanca consists of going on foot from the San Nicolás Cathedral in Alicante to the Monastery of Santa Faz. The Relic known as the Santa Faz is located in this monastery.

Each year the Santa Faz Pilgrimage is celebrated to remember these unique events. Starting from the Co-cathedral of San Nicolás in Alicante the procession moves in the direction of the sanctuary in which the sacred cloth is housed.

The Santa Faz Monastery, also known as the Monastery of Veronica, is one of the most significant religious landmarks in Alicante. Founded on the site where, according to tradition, the first miracle of Santa Faz occurred in 1489, this monastery houses the sacred cloth of the Face of Christ, which is believed to have miraculous properties.
