One of those, #3460, was the Santa Fe's only streamlined locomotive. It was painted in a unique light blue and silver paint scheme and gained the name "Blue Goose". The Blue Goose was delivered to Shopton, Iowa in January 1938, and it pulled many of the Santa Fe's famed passenger trains until it was retired and scrapped in 1956.

2022年7月3日 · Unfortunately the 3/4 "wedge" photos do not show the tender side colors definitively, but there is a very good shot of the stainless steel Santa Fe logo with very distinctive darker blue sections in each quarter of the logo.

2023年1月16日 · Santa Fe’s 3460 “Blue Goose” steam locomotive is a unique roster member in the railroad’s history. This Baldwin-built 4-6-4 was part of an order for three types of wheel arrangements (4-8-4 and 2-10-4 were the other two), with a goal of having economy among these late 1930s steam locomotives thanks to a degree of interchangeable components.

Santa Fe’s famous “Blue Goose” streamlined Hudson (actually #3460, built in 1937) was in the locomotive pool with other ordinary Hudsons, and sometimes it was assigned to the Scout. The Blue Goose was scrapped in 1956, long after the last run of the Scout.
