The SAT essay, which is 50 minutes long, is comprehension focused. The ACT Writing Test, on the other hand, is 40 minutes long and will test how well you can evaluate and analyze complex issues. No matter which test you take, you should always write the essay. It’s optional, but some schools may require it. The ACT includes a science section.
