2010年6月29日 · I wouldn't say, "Say hello to X from me." It has to be "for". "From" is possible in some situations. E.g., you might send someone a greeting card: "Happy Birthday from all your friends".

2015年11月11日 · I agree with Emma's comments (except that as I said I wouldn't say "say hi to him from me") - and in response to your specific question, Thomas, I would say that I can't think of a context in which "greet him from me" would work. I think it would have to be "for" even if "greet" were appropriate in a given context.

2020年5月19日 · Common single-word greetings and the like (with 'thank you' as an honorary member) look all right without quotes: say hello/hi/goodbye, say yes/no, say thank you/ thank-you. But it seems to be a short, conventional list. I would never do it for some other common nuggets of conversation: say sure / what's up / all right / obviously.

2008年11月12日 · In Spanish (and also in French, Italian etc) you say "Please greet so-and-so on my behalf" So, using this model, the phrase "she asked me to say hello to you for her" becomes "Me pidió que te saludara de su parte" which, when translated back into English means literally "She asked me to greet you on her behalf"...
