Southern California Outrigger Racing Association (SCORA) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit public benefit corporation dedicated to the perpetuation of outrigger canoe racing both regionally in Southern California and worldwide, and to further maintain the rich Pacific island culture and traditions that are rooted in the sport.

History of the Catalina Channel Crossing. The first outrigger race held in California was on September 20, 1959. This first race was a long distance race from Avalon on Catalina Island to the Newport Dunes inside the California Coast.

Parking is free and the lot is large enough to accommodate all participants. Please do not park in any spots reserved for SCORA officials and the SCORA van and park legally in marked spots. Tickets will be issued to any vehicles parked in red zones or taking up more than one spot.
