SCORCH JIP - amog.consulting
The SCORCH (Seawater Corrosion of Ropes & CHain) Joint Industry Project (JIP) was established by AMOG in response to an industry need for design guidance for addressing corrosion of chain and wire rope in tropical waters. Existing design guidance was more relevant to corrosion in cold waters, based on experience from the North Sea.

2015年5月4日 · The SCORCH JIP has produced a series of findings with long-lasting implications for the industry, including detailed investigations of factors in corrosion such MIC, chain pitting, chain wear, wire rope blocking compound efficacy, and the effect of …
The SCORCH JIP resulted in the development analytical/semi-empirical models for the purposes of predicting corrosion of both steel mooring chain and steel wire rope in a range of...
SCORCH JIP: Examination and testing of severely-corroded …
The SCORCH JIP conducted a study on corroded/pitted chain links that were recovered from a floating storage offloading system based in West Africa. The large pits observed, sometimes leading to reduction in diameter of the order of 35%, most likely can be attributed to microbiologically influenced corrosion.

The Joint Industry Project (JIP) for Seawater Corrosion of wire Rope and mooring Chain (SCORCH) was carried out with the participation of over twenty five offshore platform operators, equipment manufacturers, regulators and classification societies to address gaps in industry knowledge on the corrosion of steel wire rope and mooring chain ...
SCORCH JIP - Feedback from Field Recovered Mooring Wire Ropes
2014年5月5日 · Forensic investigations performed as part of the SCORCH JIP on wire ropes that were recovered from FPU mooring systems from Indonesia and Thailand are described. These wire ropes were used in tropical seawater for operating periods ranging from 9 to 14 years before being replaced for various reasons, including corrosion and fatigue concerns.
