In retrospect, I think the problem with -048 was that it was a fairly low number on the list which had a tendency to reopen up a lot because it kept getting deleted, so new users creating their first SCP would naturally try to create their article there, which led to a larger than normal number of bad coldpost articles getting entered into that ...

SCPs with classification 048 may escape the foundation's containment as stated in the SCP-048's description (if you will please, Marvin), they're not always destroyed and the foundation obviously couldn't take the risk of 682 breaching containment (that'd be catastrophic as always).

The SCP Foundation changed urls in 2011. A bunch of snapshots from 2008-2011 are saved, but this unfortunately does not include the Vampire Boat. On January 9, 2009, the post was occupied by Joey (a now decommissioned SCP that originated on editthis). The very next snapshot consists of the current "cursed number" SCP.
