I've met shy people with tats, bold people, lazy people, ambitious people, scummy people, classy people, etc. It's not a very good barometer for judging someone's character or work ethic.

There's lots of reasons people get tattoos. The ones people get/do themselves when drunk are normally stupid, yes. But, many people get meaningful tattoos, or ones to cover things like scars/birth defects, so actually the opposite of attention seeking, as the aim is to draw negative attention away. I totally understand the scar/birthmark thing.
