The SD45T-2 is a model of diesel-electric locomotive built by EMD for the Southern Pacific Railroad. Like the later SD40T-2 it is colloquially nicknamed a tunnel motor. 247 total units (including the original EMD/SP joint venture working Prototype) were produced from February 1972 to June 1975, including 84 for SP's subsidiary Cotton Belt.

2013年5月18日 · After all of the SD45s were rebuilt to SD45Rs, the road started a program to rebuild its large 247-unit fleet of SD45T-2s, numbered as SP/SSW 9157-9404. The SD45T-2R program (126 units) was completed in April 1986 to December 1989.

2012年1月18日 · The Electromotive Division SD45 is a 6 axle, 3,600 HP diesel-electric locomotive built by EMD from 1965 to 1971. It used a 20 cylinder 645E3 engine rated at 3,600 HP. At the time, it was the most powerful single engine locomotive built. It debuted in 1965/66 with the rest of EMD's then new locomotives featuring the all new 645 engine.
