该篇文章作为13年EG的 seam-driven stitching 的改进版，作者提出新的发现是基于seam-driven的方式在一定程度上不需要两张待拼接图片被完全对齐，某些关键part被对齐后基于seam-driven的方式也可以获取视觉观感很好的拼接图片。

通常接缝切割(Seam-cutting)步骤是获得感知无缝(perceptually seamless)结果的最关键的一步。 因此提出了一种接缝驱动的图像拼接策略，在这种策略中，不是基于特征对应的最佳拟合来估计几何变换，而是基于接缝切割的最终视觉质量来评估变换的优劣。

本文算法通过交互的方式利用薄板样条配准提供更加准确的对齐模型，继而使用全局相似性来约束图像的全局一致性，最后使用优化的图切算法让拼接区域更加自然清晰．. 在图像拼接的任务中，常常需要提取一组对应特征点来估计其变换.经典算法通常使用检测算法检测对应特征点，但在特征点较少的场景下这么做不能很出色地完成配准任务，检测算法的不准确也会引入非必要的误差，影响后续的对齐模型的准确．.
