SipTilSend 1 is a worldwide initiative allowing patients to sip small volumes of water (or similar fluid) while waiting before surgery until they are sent for to have their operation.

In August 2023, SJH preoperative fasting guidelines were updated to incorporate a hospital-wide ‘Sip Til Send’ policy. The new policy was extensively promoted, and multiple education sessions were held for medical, nursing, and catering staff across relevant departments.
