Senj[a] is a town on the upper Adriatic coast in Croatia, in the foothills of the Mala Kapela and Velebit mountains. The symbol of the town is the Nehaj Fortress (Croatian: Tvrđava Nehaj) which was completed in 1558.

Senj (lat. Senia ili Segnia, grč. Athyinites (Αθυινιτες), njem. i mađ. Zengg, tal. Segna) je najstariji grad na gornjem Jadranu, a utemeljen je u predrimsko doba prije nekih 3000 godina (Senia) na brdu Kuk. Bio je glavno središte ilirskog plemena Japoda. Sadašnje naselje nalazi se podno obronaka Kapele i Velebita.
