Betahistine, sold under the brand name Serc among others, is an anti-vertigo medication. It is commonly prescribed for balance disorders or to alleviate vertigo symptoms. It was first registered in Europe in 1970 for the treatment of Ménière's disease, but current evidence does not support its efficacy in treating it. [4][5]

SERC (betahistine dihydrochloride) 8 mg tablets: round, flat, white to almost white tablet with bevelled edges, one side inscribed with ‘256’. The recommended starting dose in adults is 8 to 16 mg three times a day. The maximum recommended daily dose is 48 mg. The tablets may be taken with or without food.

It is very important to take SERC exactly as your doctor has instructed. If you are not sure when or how many tablets to take each day, check with your doctor, nurse or pharmacist. It is recommended to take your dose at about the same time every day. SERC is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age.
