When used in combination with nitrous oxide, the MAC equivalent dose of sevoflurane should be reduced in pediatric patients.

1991年8月21日 · We have determined the minimum alveolar con-centration (MAC) value of sevoflurane in 20 children, of both sexes, aged 3-5 yr. MAC was found to be 2.49 (SE 0.08) %, which was greater than that of adults in our previous study.

Study objective: To determine the minimum alveolar concentration (MAC) of sevoflurane with and without 65% nitrous oxide (N2O) in non-Asian patients at least 70 years of age, and in patients aged 18 to 35 years. Design: Randomized open-study design. The Dixon up-down method determined the target sevoflurane concentration for each patient.

To determine the total age-related MAC, use the sevo ̄urane chart (Fig. 2) and ®rst draw a vertical line corresponding to age 85 yr. Next, select the right-hand scale corresponding to the use of nitrous oxide 67%, and draw a horizontal line through the sevo ̄urane 0.5% position.
