This document describes the Standard Frequency Action Format (SFAF) used for Department of Defense (DoD) radio frequency proposals, assignments, modifications, renewals, reviews, and deletions.

The format currently used extensively by member nations is the US-developed Standard Frequency Action Format (SFAF). Also, currently NATO is leading an effort to develop another format, the Spectrum Management Allied Data Exchange Format (SMADEF).

FACTS helps the local frequency manager control the use of frequencies assigned to the local area, calculate potential interface for proposed frequency usage, and prepare requests for frequency assignment as SFAF messages.
