SHAF is a US federal tax-exempt 501-C3 organization; all donations to SHAF are deductible. SHAF has been preserving and protecting historic sites related to the Battle of Antietam, the Maryland Campaign, and other Civil War activity in the region since 1986.

Our annual Spring Work Day on March 1, 2025, is fast approaching! We will work at East Woods, the same place at Antietam National Battlefield where we worked last fall. We will continue to clear non-native brush to restore the original appearance of the site, which helps our visitors better understand what happened there.

Shaf` in Arabic refers to pairs or even numbers, and is the opposite of witr which means odd-numbered. Ibn Hibban narrated from Ibn `Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that he used to separate between his even-numbered prayer (shaf`) and odd-numbered prayer with a tasleem, and he said that the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to do that.
