2007年5月2日 · First, Alden make a point--in their one-page shell cordovan care brochure shipped with each pair of shoes--of explaining that shell cordovan will stretch quite easily, and to avoid shoe trees that exert too much pressure. This would certainly suggest that shell is more amenable to stretching than is calf and is to be guarded against.

2016年5月1日 · Many would disagree with your conclusion, "used shell is anything but elegant." While it is true that in the early days shell was most commonly found in the construction of work boots, time have changed tremendously and I am inclined to agree that AE and Alden shell cordovan designs are perhaps not elegant, they are to my eye, quite handsome.

2006年9月29日 · I consider shell cordovan shoes a real bargain. IMHO one of the greatest advantages of shell cordovan shoes is their durability, that seems almost everlasting! I'm my service I have a pair of AE Leeds in #8 shell cordovan that were purchase back in 1984. I can't say that any of my calfskin shoes have shown that measure of durability.
