It's a base odds 1 in 500 shiny, but how rare it is to get a wild Magmar depends on the event, weather and biome. For example here on the mountain biome I've seen 4 Magmar just today, so on the right place is easier to get, but in the wrong one it can take a while to find it.

2020年12月15日 · Right before 5pm, I checked spawns once again: shiny Magmar, Magmar, Porygon, Electabuzz, Magikarp, Electabuzz. This time, when CD was over, shiny Magmar changed species to Electabuzz but it retained its shininess. As for the non-shiny spawns, only Magikarp retained species and none of them became shiny (as expected).

This is good to know because it shows that, unlike the Hatch 7 Eggs task that Niantic said could result in a shiny Alolan Vulpix (spoiler: it couldn’t), the Give Your Buddy a Treat task does result in a Sudowoodo which can be shiny.

2022年9月12日 · [genIV] 17th uncatchable of the shiny Groudon costume hunt in Battle Revolution is a shiny Magmar! I didn't even notice the portrait since it isn't too much different than the normal one but conveniently was sent out first so I was able to see it.

2020年11月22日 · It is generally better to have near 0 attack IV. Use a site like Gostadium to check what is the highest ranking IV spread, then check what you have, both shiny and non-shiny. It's sure nice to look at a shiny magmortar, but if you have a non-shiny that performs better than the shiny, because its IV are better distributed, then go for the non-shiny.
