The Siemens – Düwag U2 is a six-axle, bi-directional, articulated light rail vehicle. They may be coupled together to form longer trains. The cars were constructed by consortium of Siemens, Wegmann & Co. and Düwag in West Germany. The U2 was originally designed for Frankfurt's light rail transit system.

The Siemens–Duewag U2 was built by Siemens, in association with Duewag and Wegmann & Co built between 1968 and 1990. The car was based on the original U1 tram built in 1965 for the Frankfurt U-Bahn. The U2 was also designed for and used by the Frankfurt U-Bahn.

2017年6月15日 · As of today, the U2 fleet is already retired in Frankfurt a.M. and San Diego (some were offloaded to Mendoza, Argentina). In Calgary, they are beginning to be replaced by the Siemens S200, an American-built offspring to the German LRV.

In 1978, Edmonton, Alberta became the first North American city to open a light rail system with a fleet of 37 U2 Siemens Mobility light rail vehicles (LRV). Thirty years later a new generation of vehicles was born, the city of Edmonton expanded their network by 2.1 km and currently operates 94 light rail vehicles.

Düwag or Duewag (stylised in all caps), formerly Waggonfabrik Uerdingen, was a German manufacturer of rail vehicles. It was sold in 1999 to Siemens with the brand later retired. Duewag was founded in March 1898 as Waggonfabrik Uerdingen in Uerdingen and produced rail vehicles under the Düwag brand.
