In 1298–99, a Mongol army (possibly Neguderi fugitives) invaded the Sindh region of the Delhi Sultanate, and occupied the fort of Sivistan in present-day Pakistan. The Delhi Sultan Alauddin Khalji dispatched his general Zafar Khan to evict the Mongols. Zafar Khan recaptured the fort, and imprisoned the Mongol leader Saldi and his companions.

Matta, a member of the Rai dynasty, [2] was chief of Siwistan in what is today Pakistan. He succeeded his father as chief. [3] When Chach of Alor began the expansion of his empire, he entered Siwistan. [4] Matta and a large retinue met Chach's army, and a battle was fought between the opposing factions.

Notable historian Molai Sheedai writes in his book "Tarikh-e-Tamadan-e-Sind" that Sehwan was built by the Sewi Aryas and was hence called Sewistan. Another view is that its name was Sindomana, a name well-mentioned in Greek literature. [4] .

On the way to Umerkot, the Mughal King Humayun attempted to conquer this city but he failed, later on his son Akbar conquered Sehwan Sharif. It is claimed that the name Sehwan was actually “ Siwistan” or Sevistan” named under the rule of Raja Dahir whose rule was extended to Punjab before Muhammad Bin Qasim defeated him.
