"Skip skids" or "broken skidmarks" occur when a vehicle with locked wheels has the springs in its suspension excited to the point where vehicle dynamic weight shifts from one wheel (or set of wheels) to another. This phenomenon is most commonly seen in cases in which an empty semi-trailer is subjected to hard braking.
