The Sky Waka is scheduled to be open for Sightseeing from 09am - 4pm from 29th November, 2024 - 27th April 2025. This is subject to weather conditions on the day of your visit. Note, we are closed on Christmas Day.

2022年12月18日 · The Sky Waka gondola at Whakapapa on Mt Ruapehu has opened for the 2023 summer season! This gives visitors to our region access to the heart of New Zealand’s North Island - with great views across the Tongariro National Park and beyond.

The Sky Waka gondola travels 1.8 km’s through one of the North Island’s most rugged and spectacular landscapes high on Mt Ruapehu, past waterfalls in summer and snow-laden peaks in winter.

In summer, Whapapapa offers sightseeing aboard the iconic Sky Waka gondola, food and beverage options, and marked walks. Tūroa is also working toward a summer offering, with food and beverage options and fun activities all in development. For more information on each area, select Whakapapa or Tūroa below.
