When I make a mistake on a yellow layer, I repaint my pink undercoat over the mistake plus the surrounding area, then feather or drybrush in my "highlight" color before reapplying a layer of yellow over all of it.

The warm one worked really well and I'm really happy with it, the cool one isn't bad, and worked better in some places than others, so I'm gonna have to examine exactly what I did that made it different.

If you use a series of grays and then used something like Basilicanum Grey as your contrast, that CAN work and doesn’t look terrible. Black Templar contrast is too dark though, you just cover up all the highlighting work
