Slik were a Scottish pop group of the mid-1970s, most notable for their UK number 1 hit "Forever and Ever" in 1976. Initially glam rock, the band later changed their style to soft rock/bubblegum. It was the first band with whom singer and guitarist Midge Ure began to experience musical success, before joining new wave band Ultravox.

Slik is the only studio album of 1970s Scottish teenybop band Slik. [1] Following the Bay City Rollers style, plus the ballads and pop of the time, Slik released two hit singles before the album, "Forever And Ever" in 1975, [2] and "Requiem" in 1976, [3] which oriented the band to the success and recognition in their native Scotland.

2024年11月10日 · Formed in Glasgow, Scotland, during the early ‘70s under the moniker Salvation, the band went through several iterations before finding its footing in 1974 with members Kenny Hysolp (Oil Slik) on drums, Jim McGinlay (Jim Slik) on bass, Billy McIsaac (Lord Slik) on keyboards and the then unknown James “Midge” Ure on guitar and lead vocals.

After scoring hits with the singles “Forever and Ever” and “Requiem,” the band morphed into PVC for one single in 1977.

Best remembered as the band who offered Midge Ure his first taste of future superstardom, Slik -- or Salvation, as they were then known -- were a Deep Purple-styled metal act before shifting in a nightclub-friendly Top 40 direction.

The first Slik single was Boogiest Band In Town, a Martin/Coulter composition that was used in a teenage pop movie called Never Too Young To Rock (also starring The Glitter Band, The Rubettes and Mud) in which the band had a cameo role.
