The slipper in our Rotax engines are just like any other slipper clutch regarding operation. Blipping the throttle has no effect on it working. I have used mine with a throttle blip and without and it works very, very well on the track.

I installed my STM slipper clutch last night, and did a little step-by-step for the how-to thread. I'm starting this thread for comments / corrections so that the how-to thread doesn't get loaded with comments that shouldn't be there. Please provide any corrections or additions that are found or needed so that I can correct the file.

- installed 660 clutch pressure plate with 900 clutch "rod" (p/n: B015050) - now clutch shaft, which goes through the transmission, from the clutch master to the clutch pressure plate, is consist of two parts, and alltogether are too long. The shorter piece on the clutch master side is a 8 x 45 mm rod (pawl clutch , p/n: 874191).

My buddy Ben has one in his 00.5 Mille. He rides the bike strictly as a track bike. I have not ridden his bike with the STM Slipper clutch, but he raves about it. he has told me that it is 110% better than the stock slipper clutch. If I were riding my Mille more on the track I would have one put in....

I can't see that a clutch lever juddering or not when changing down is relevant because with a slipper clutch there's no need to use the clutch lever at all to downshift. But even if the clutch lever were used then once the downshift was made then the lever would be released and the slipper clutch would be left to get on with the job.

The stock PPC clutch has no significant slipper effect, very obvious when you try it at the track. Yoyodyne has a slipper clutch for the RSV, I believe the ramp angle they settled on after testing last year in the AMA/DMG was 34°

The slipper clutch is a mechanical cam type system that is designed to bleed off (by engaging the clutch slightly or disengagement of the final drive within the gearbox) the engine revs compared to the mechanical over-rev you are inducing by changing down a gear too soon

A slipper clutch in theory is a wonderfull thing. In practice, I'm having a very hard time unlearning two decades of experience that tells me to blip the throttle on downshifts to match revs.

I just purchased an SXV that has an STM slipper clutch installed. The clutch is slipping badly under power/acceleration.
