Sloan Peak stands high above peaks of the Mountain Loop Highway. It's distinctive profile makes it visible across wide regions of the Cascades. The first ascent was made by Harry Bedal and Nels Skaar on July 30, 1921.

Sloan Peak is a 7,835-foot (2,388-metre) mountain in the North Cascades of Washington state. It rises about 40 miles (64 km) east of Everett, Washington and 12 miles southwest of Glacier Peak, one of the Cascade stratovolcanoes. It is located between the north and south forks of Sauk River, in the Mount Baker–Snoqualmie National Forest.

Sloan Peak/Corkscrew Route. An alpine climb with both glacier and rock climbing skills (Class 3) needed. Sloan has a distinctive profile and the corkscrew is a unique feature: a good tread on a sloping shelf in the middle of large cliffs. Snow can make the approach a challenge while late season climbs may have trouble with the glacier.

Moving south along the trail, you'll begin with a traverse through some marshlands and several water crossings along the Sauk River and its tributaries for the first mile and before gaining any elevation.

Well-worn climbers' trail among heather slopes, and a fun rock scramble to the summit. Great views of Glacier and Baker. Camp to summit about 4 hours, summit to camp about 2, at a leisurely pace. Lots of water sources. Would be great to do as a long one-day trip.
