The Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples’ Region (abbreviated as SNNPR) is a multinational state in southwest Ethiopia with an area of 93,800 km². Its capital is Hawassa (Awasa), 273 kilometres south of Addis Ababa, although, following the formation of the Sidama Region in 2020, it now lies outside the region’s boundaries.
