A Socata TB21 Trinidad TC crashed during landing at Barcelonnette – Saint-Pons Airport (BAE/LFMR), Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and was destroyed by a post impact fire. Four people were on board, one died, the 3 others were seriously injured from burns.

On the day of the accident, the pilot departed before dawn into instrument meteorological conditions. A witness observed the airplane trailing white and gray smoke, which turned to an orange color, consistent with an in-flight fire. Shortly after, the airplane impacted trees about ½ mile north of the departure airport.

During a sales demonstration flight, the pilot descended into the upsloping face of mountainous terrain about 17 nm north of the destination airport. The accident occurred under dark, nighttime, visual meteorological conditions, and after about a 22-minute flight. Illumination of the moon's visible disk was 19 percent.
