2013年6月15日 · The lights were made by Underwriters Laboratory, Inc. model E-15522, which they no longer made. I have a feeling most of these lights are living on borrowed time and I need to have them replaced. Obviously I do not wish to pull down all the soffit panel and put on new ones. Some of these panels are angled and up high.

2024年12月8日 · (1) I have trouble deciding where to mount a motion sensor for a set of soffit lights. I want the motion sensor to be all around not just in the front entrance. If an intruder was to approach from the backyard or climb the side fence I want the lights to come on...so that means there needs to be multiple motion sensors.

2019年8月8日 · I like how the soffit lights pointing down accent the house and provide a little extra soft lighting around house. I prefer this look to flood lights on ground pointing at house. Have not found as many internet soffit lights in my searches as I thought I would.

2022年4月17日 · The remodel can is not heavy. Of course, this depends upon the material the soffit is made of. Plywood or concrete board is fine, but very thin masonite may be an issue. Remember the depth of the can and the roof/ framing clearance. You may need a shallow 6" can or a 4" can (and appropriate trim).

2019年1月22日 · Recessed lights (cans) would all be standard type, hard-wired to the integral j-box. The lighting in the soffit would be strip LED or rope lighting -- this is what would need a receptacle for power. Fishbulb28 said:

From what I have see there doesn't look to be a right or wrong answer when it comes to placement as it seems to depend on the layout and design of the house.

2012年1月10日 · Because these lights will burn for many hours each night, I would prefer to use LED bulbs, and I have found one that suits my need. It has a long life span, consumes 8 watts (produces light comparable to a 40w incandescent), has a reasonable color temperature and produces a narrow (spot) beam.

2014年7月14日 · The lights need repaired but I'm not spending one penny on them. I was considering can lights then having someone repair the drywall, in the narrow area above cabinets. I'm not crazy about the soffit area above cabinets but if that were removed then theres the issue of matching new popcorn ceiling to existing.
