Surah Al-Qamar (Arabic text: القمر‎) is the 54th chapter of the Qur’an. The surah titled in English means “The Moon” and it consists of 55 verses... The Surah takes its name from the very first verse Wan shaqq al-Qamar, thereby implying that it is a Surah in which the word al-Qamar has occurred. The incident of the shaqq-al-Qamar (splitting of the moon) that has been mentioned in it, determines its period of revelation precisely.

Surah Al-Qamar of the Holy Quran talks about the approaching Day of Judgment and describes some of the scenes of this Day. We can also read about the flood that came at the time of Prophet Noah, the punishment of the people of 'Ad, Thamud and the People of Prophet Lot.
