2008年12月30日 · You'll want to feather the joint compound out a few inches in each direction so the thickness of the tape doesn't show. Use some primer over the dried compound before painting. You can of course fill the crack with spackle and paint it. Nothing wrong with using spackle for that.

2012年1月19日 · Spackle contains an actual resin that increases adhesion, limits shrinkage (to a degree), and makes it more moisture resistant than joint compound. Spackle is also a more PH neutral product so discoloration/staining of subsequent coatings are less likely due to the alkalinity of joint compounds (in other words, Prime before finishing).

2010年6月11日 · I'm thinking using a neighbor's palm sander to smooth the transition, not bothering with mesh, joint compound, or spackle before priming. I don't want to sand it all smooth, paint, and then have the surface underneath degrade so that the paint starts buckling around the edges of a big rectangle.

2021年5月7日 · Spackle is a different formulation than joint compound. Setting type compound with paper tape is the strongest and most crack resistant solution I'm aware of for standard drywall work.

2020年12月24日 · Aside from hot mud's abilities to harden more quickly, is it more durable too? Or is it preferred mostly because you can put multiple coatings on more quickly? In the case where you have a smaller repair, and don't necessarily need a big bag of powder hanging around, would premixed joint compound perform similarly over time? Thanks in advance.

2009年10月25日 · First post, new home owner. Had to repair a 1' x 2' chunk of wallboard in the bathroom. Asked a HD guy how to go about it. He sold me some spackle and some joint mesh tape. I cut the new piece of wallboard, placed a couple pieces of plywood for backing, taped the edges, spackled the edges, and used a sponge to smoothe it out. The result looks horrible. …
