The production line of the Star Model 30M/30PK was taken over by the Spanish police and army and counted by security personnel and local Peruvian police. The gun loads the 9x19mm Parabellum with a 15-round detachable magazine inserted into the grip. The overall length of the 30M is just over 8 inches and relies on a 4.7 inch long barrel assembly.

The Star Model 30 was an improved version of the Star Model 28 Pistol with the extractor in the normal location. It was available in three main models which were the Model 30M (with long "military" length barrel), the Model 30P (with short "police" length barrel) and the Model 30PK (with "police" length barrel and lightweight alloy frame).

The 30 PK was for many years the regulation pistol of Spanish National Police (known by the police as Modelo 28 PK) until it was replaced by the HK USP Compact. It was highly popular. The model 30M was used by the Spanish Navy and certain unit of Spanish Gendarmerie (Guardia Civil).

2012年2月26日 · The 30M is probably the finest, strongest and most reliable pistol Star Bonifacio Echeverria ever manufactured. Their operation is best described as "lazy": they are overbuilt, understressed, almost never break or need repair, and as a consequence are utterly dependable. The 30PK was an unsuccessful attempt to shorten and lighten it.
