I would then add a different feature altogether to give it an instant death if the spikes are separated. This keeps each mechanic simple and suits the lore, since the healing is just a single spike in the first place.

Or air. There's essentially no metal in the air. Something like 78% nitrogen, 21% Oxygen, and then a mix of other gases take up the rest such as CO2, water, and others. So if someone had a dagger made of steel but stuck a sword made of aluminum on the end, I don't think the Inquisitor would have any way of knowing.

2023年4月7日 · Maybe. The physical warping caused by having a Hemalurgic spike containing a human attribute rather than an Invested power is significantly greater and would likely turn the Hemalurgist into something more akin to a Koloss than a Steel Inquisitor.

By the time of Hero of Ages, he's practiced enough to determine the color of things by their trace metal signatures, and sees the atomic iron bound up in hemoglobin within the bloodstreams of those around him.
