2020年6月30日 · To reduce the eccentricity in the footing, I am thinking to reduce the width of the footing to the actual width I needed for the design (I.e. 2'-6" instead of 5'-8" shown on the sketch) ;and separate the pour of the acutal footing and the concrete beneath it so that the footing bears on the concrete and soil.

2016年8月29日 · The step is 24", they usually don't even show the footing at the haunch, I'm am wondering how this actually gets constructed in the field and what the appropriate detailing should be. Per KootK's detail above, overlapping the footing would result in an large quantity of concrete at the haunch, or at least to my untrained eye.

2006年11月9日 · Here is how I solve this problem: 1. Find the linear wall load (klf or plf). 2. Assuming the soil under the slab edge is at its limit (e.g, 2000 psf), calculate the width (perpendicular to the slab edge) of slab edge that is required to balance the linear wall load.

2020年5月4日 · I created a new detail which is a modified version of Detail 3 but with the raised top of footing on either side of the stem for concrete coverage for the reinforcement above the pipe. It involves only a few scrap 2x for forms. I suppose I'll let the contractor decide if they would rather step the footing below or build to this detail.

Now i have to extend a room of Solid Block Masonry with plaster. Since the area is of Earthquake zone, i am in doubt how to construct footing for masonry wall without damaging the original one.

2024年2月14日 · The footing has multiple bars,I understand the basic idea to tie the inside bar to the outside bar with L bars doing 90s, i am drawing a blank with how to connect the other 6 bars in the corner.Would u bars work better in this application, or is there not enough room for error/ working in the field with the relatively congested detail.

2022年2月3日 · A photo is attached. There is no stepped footing, nor any type of transition. The builder insists he is permitted to do this - that the code allows up to a 4 foot offset, and the garage foundation wall carries the loads over this span footing to footing. I can no reference to such an allowance or except in the IRC.

2015年2月18日 · Part 9 of NBCC is prescriptive. If the foundation wall is reinforced such that it spans from upper footing to lower footing, ignoring the intermediate 'step' footings as Kootk suggested, and that the bearing pressures on the two 'support' footings are acceptable, this seems like it should work.

2022年7月7日 · The main reason the left is more common is construction sequencing. With the left detail you can continue framing above the main floor without the trades finishing any of their work. With the right hand detail your mech and elec trades must finish their rough-ins before you can cast the floor and continue framing.
