Visual cortex - Wikipedia
The area of the visual cortex that receives the sensory input from the lateral geniculate nucleus is the primary visual cortex, also known as visual area 1 (V1), Brodmann area 17, or the striate cortex. The extrastriate areas consist of visual areas 2, 3, 4, and 5 (also known as V2, V3, V4, and V5, or Brodmann area 18 and all Brodmann area 19). [1]
Striatum - Wikipedia
The ventral striatum receives direct input from multiple regions in the cerebral cortex and limbic structures such as the amygdala, thalamus, and hippocampus, as well as the entorhinal cortex and the inferior temporal gyrus. [37]
Striate Cortex Functions | SpringerLink
2024年1月1日 · Striate cortex is the primary sensory cortical area for vision. Damage to striate cortex causes blind regions, called scotomas, in the field of vision. Striate cortex derives its name from the stria of Gennari, a prominent band of myelin in layer 4, visible to the naked eye.
Striate Cortex - an overview | ScienceDirect Topics
The striate cortex is defined as a region in the mammalian brain characterized by orientation domains that respond to similar stimulus orientations, arranged in a pinwheel-like pattern with 'pinwheel centers'. It processes visual information from the eyes and forms ocular dominance columns as well as ON and OFF responses across its surface.
Visual Processing: Cortical Pathways (Section 2, Chapter 15 ...
The striate cortex is involved in the initial cortical processing of all visual information necessary for visual perception and its damage results in loss of vision in the contralesional hemifield.
The Functional Organization of the Striate Cortex - Neuroscience
Bringing together the inputs from the two eyes at the level of the striate cortex provides a basis for stereopsis, the special sensation of depth that arises from viewing nearby objects with two eyes instead of one.

Concomitant sensitivity to orientation, direction, and color of cells ...
Our findings are difficult to reconcile with the hypothesis that there is a strict segregation of cells sensitive to orientation, direction, and color in layers 2 and 3. In fact, the present results suggest the opposite since most cells in these layers are selective for a number of stimulus attributes.
