Strontium-90 Decay Chain As 90 Sr decays, it forms 90 Y or Yttrium-90 which has a half life of 64 hours. The 90 Y decay results into a stable substance called Zirconium (Zr).

Strontium-90 decays in a β--decay with the release of an electron to yttrium-90 (half-life 64 hours) and further to the stable zirconium-90 (emission of another electron and an antineutrino). 90 Sr has a specific activity of 5.21 TBq/g.
