Past workshops and activities include art jamming, coffee filter brewing, kids activities, chef pop-ups and everything in between.

Located in the heart of Downtown Kuala Lumpur, REXKL is a community & cultural hub that occupies a historical site of one of the first theatres in the country before founded in 1947. After the first fire in 1972, Rex Cinema was rebuilt as a state of the art single-screen theatre with over a thousand seating capacity.

REXKL, a former 1970s cinema in Chinatown, has been reborn as a vibrant indie community hub since 2019, offering a diverse range of vendors, including a bar, café, art galleries, and boutiques. It also features BookXcess, a multi-level bookstore with 80,000 titles stacked on a maze-like structure of soaring, interconnected shelves.

REXKL aims to give the cinema and the surrounding community a new lease on life by repurposing the disused building as a space for events, theatre, exhibitions, performances, screenings, library facilities, workshops, retail, and F&B.
