Sunbiggin Tarn is a tarn near Sunbiggin in Cumbria. It is in a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) which also includes the surrounding moorland and limestone pavement of Little Asby Scar.

Sunbiggin Tarn is 1 mile east of the hamlet of Sunbiggin and 3.5 miles east of Orton. It is a marl lake and is surrounded by dense clusters of fern. This is an important area of huge biological interest, particularly because of the upper limestone areas that surround it, and the pavements and scars typical of limestone areas.

There are closely similar variations found in other Native American words. I have not found (or haven't so far) the origin of the word "boggin" for a knitted, wool cap.
