I do not believe you can use a Yamaha lower since Suzuki uses a reduction gear and Yamaha does not.

The shift linkage is at the top of the leg level with the bottom of the powerhead it can be disconnected by removing a rubber grommet on the STB side of motor about level with the bottom of power head.

If clutch rod is moved up to much the steel ball will move out of it's position in lower unit. Then a completet teardown and rebuild of lower unit is needed to get it back. Been there, done that. Take the lower unit to a Suzuki marine mech and it will be fixed rather easy. /Bo

One of the problems encountered, when used in salt water, is the studs and the casings corode and weld together. People and the manufacturers fail to coat the studs and bolts with a sealer. I replaced the impeller gaskets, seals, gear oil, etc. Now I'm trying to get it back in. It went in just fine, I bolted everything up, hooked up the ear muffs and started the engine. Runs fine.

2023年4月9日 · The 2 bolts are threaded into the lower unit. The puller has clearance and puts outward pressure on the prop shaft, the carrier will slide on the bolt shafts. Can't see in the photo but I've an inch clearance between the carrier and puller. Theory of the puller can be seen here.

2014年4月24日 · Re: suzuki dt55 lower unit Look under your bottom carb with a flashlight, follow your shift linkage and find a large chrome nut. Loosen it only about three turns while pushing the shaft over until the pin slides out of the shift rod. Make sure the shift rod doesn't hang up on anything as you lower the gearcase.
