It featured a “Full Floater” suspension system, 6-speed manual gearbox, and up-swept exhaust that enabled it to best its competition and land Dirt Bike Magazine’s “Hall of Fame.”

Similarly to the RM250, the RM125 features an aluminum 1-cylinder engine with a 6-port scavenging system that combines a power reed valve and the Pointless Electronic Ignition (PEI) system. This engine is paired with a newly designed semi-double cradle type pipe frame and a 6-speed transmission for smooth acceleration.

The RM125 was Suzuki's MX bike for racing the outdoor motocross and indoor supercross, so it was tuned for the best performance for riders like Travis Pastrana would be competitive.

Suzuki introduced the RM series of motocross models in 1975, these replacing the TM models. The range quicly stretched out from 50 to 400cc and became very successful. A few years later the Full Floater swingarm was introduced and water-cooled engines came along in 1981 — and the developement of the RM models continues even today.
