2024年3月5日 · That pretty much concludes my T430 upgrades. As it stands now: i7-3840QM, 16GB RAM, LG 1080p IPS LCD, NMB 7-row keyboard, 1TB SSD, dual boot Windows 7 and Kubuntu. Really the only possible future upgrades are a newer WiFi card and a rebuilt battery. I can't think of much else I'd like to do, and I'm not planning on anything for a while.

You can have up to 2x8GB=16GB of RAM in there, either DDR3-1333/PC3-10660 or DDR3-1600/PC3-12800 will do. Get Samsung, Hynix, Elpida, Kingston, Crucial etc. (but NOT any so-called Value-RAM). Nothing else needed, but make sure the laptop is off and main-battery removed, before you swap them.

2021年1月17日 · I can add from my own experience, my T430 Type 2347-1G1 (Ivybridge, Intel GPU only) is happily running 2x8GB PC3L 12800S Samsung RAM sticks. The plastic on RAM slot has writing "DDR3 RVS 1.5V", so indont know if it is actually using the L and running it at 1.35V or is the Samsung Low Voltage sticks being able to run on 1.5V picture

2019年9月22日 · The T430 has the last of the non-U CPUs (i5-3320m). The T460 has the low power i5-6300u which is only marginally (very marginally) faster than the i5-3320m CPU, despite being 3 generations newer. Now, if you want a smaller, lighter Thinkpad with two batteries, then by all means go for it.

2020年1月13日 · Not in agreement - Lenovo is still providing bios updates in 2019 for T430. You should at least update to BIOS 2.81 (G1ETC1WW) EC 1.13 (G1HT35WW) issued on 2019/07/04 which include various intel CPU [censored] fixes and that bios still allows you to modify the EC to whitelist batteries and use old keyboard mods.

2012年10月30日 · The processor will support 32gb of RAM with 2 channels. However, I am not sure where you will find 2x16gb RAM sticks at the moment. There are two RAM slots, so your practical limit today is 16gb of RAM. That may change in the future, but no one knows when or if each channel can support the full 32gb or is limited to 16gb.

2018年3月11日 · Ultimately I want to end up with a quad core i7 t430 with 16gb ram and use my expresscard interface eGPU every once and a while for multimedia productivty and light gaming. Hopefully this can be a complete upgrade info thread for everyone else in the future
