This is the correct bearing for the rear of the T-90 where the transfer case joins it. The T90 is the correct transmission for the CJ2A, CJ3A, CJ3B, M38, M38A1 and early CJ5. I have used these on many of my restorations and they are great with no problems. Part number: 644551.

New replacement rear main shaft bearing for the T-90 and T-86 transmission. This is a sealed bearing. It will not help eliminate leaks like some competitors claim, it just keeps the bearing sealed in it’s own casing. If the bearing comes with a C clip you will remove the C clip, they are not used on this application.

Would you recommend removing the inner seal on these bearings so they could be lubricated by the gear lube inside the transmission? I would not remove.

The main problem was the worn 3rd gear synchro riding up too high on the surface of the input shaft bevel. The rear face of the synchro was scored where it had been hitting the small teeth of the input gear. But the *cause* of this looked to be the two shims between the rear shoulder of the mainshaft and the bearing spacer.

We are now offering a SKF rear sealed bearing for the T90 and T84. The original style was an open bearing that was suspectable to contamination and later lead to rear bearing failure.

If you have the large-hole bearing adapter you will now install rear bearing in rear bearing adapter and install snap ring. This bearing is also a press fit and can be tapped in using a brass drift.
