The British Rail Class 231[7] is a class of eleven diesel-electric multiple units of the FLIRT family, which have been built for Transport for Wales by Swiss rolling stock manufacturer Stadler Rail. The first units entered service on 18 January 2023. [1] The previous Wales & Borders rail franchise operator, KeolisAmey Wales ordered the new trains.

From December 2022, we’ll be introducing new trains that provide customers with level boarding. Four-carriage electric and diesel trains similar to our tri-mode trains. We'll be using innovative Tri-mode multiple unit (diesel, electric, battery) which are much greener for the environment. Currently being built in Switzerland by Stadler.

My favoured plan would be a fleet of 5-car equivalent intercity FLIRTs to do the West Wales-Manchesters, which would release 197s to cover shortforms on other routes and replace the 153s/230s.

2021年7月26日 · I see mentioned today on another group that DB have the contract to deliver the new TfW Class 231 (11 4-cars) and Class 756 (7 3-cars and 17 4-cars). The train will run up HS1, using the 1810 Dollands Moor - Ripple Lane path.

We've made short videos of all its various door opening/closing sounds, plus the station announcements. The sound profile is quite remarkable. CV129 changes the route/station announcements to any of the diesel routes the Flirt travels.

2023年8月26日 · The FLIRT and 370 were major investments, the 87 and 91 had issues but they still show Hornby making electric locomotives. Ultimately it's like anything else, like what you buy and buy what you like. However, what you like is not necessarily what others like and any manufacturer will do their own analysis of what makes the most sense to make.
