The TLB lets the processor very quickly convert virtual addresses to physical addresses. If an instruction asks the processor to do some memory operation on a (virtual) address, the processor first checks to see whether the TLB contains an entry for that virtual address.

But other times, it says no definition exists. Can I manually open this file in Visual Studio?

Jul 23, 2011 · You may have to tweak the code in qemu to print the contents of TLB. Look at tlb_* functions in qemu/exec.c You may want to add a tlb_dump_function to print the contents of the TLB. As far as I know, this is the closest you can get to dumping the contents of TLB. P.S: I started answering this question and then realized it was an year old.

TLB is like a cache, but it does not store data rather it stores page table entries so that we can completely bypass the page table in case of TLB hit as you can see in the diagram.

I have Visual Studio 2015 running on Windows 10 and need to register a legacy type lib (.tlb). From the posts I've found, regtlibv12.exe is the tool for this. However, I can't find it under C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\ or anywhere else for that matter. Does anyone know how to register .tlb if regtlibv12.exe doesn't exist?

Jan 8, 2019 · Apparently, regtlibv12.exe is part of Visual Studio 2010 (contrary to what I read on various Microsoft forums), but it is located in the Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30139 folder (not the v2.0.50727 folder). Using that executable I was able to successfully register the legacy typelib (.tlb).
