Use this command to define a container storage pool in a cloud environment. This type of storage pool is used for data deduplication. Cloud-container storage pools are not supported on Linux on Power Systems and Linux on System z.

You can store deduplicated data and non-deduplicated data in a cloud-container storage pool and restore the data as required. You can configure cloud-container storage pools in IBM Tivoli Storage Manager to use one of several different cloud service providers.

Tivoli Storage Manager manages the credentials, security, read and write I/Os, and the lifecycle for data that is stored to the cloud. When cloud-container storage pools are implemented on the server, you can write directly to the cloud by configuring a cloud-container storage pool with the cloud credentials.

It enables backups and recovery for virtual, physical and cloud environments of all sizes. This product is part of the IBM Spectrum Software Defined Storage suite of products and is unrelated to the Tivoli Management Framework. TSM descended from a project done at IBM's Almaden Research Center around 1988 to back up VM/CMS systems.
