Uniforms of the Wehrmacht
Although there were some exceptions (discussed below), the vast majority of Officials wore a metal HV device on their shoulder boards (Photo 66). In the beginning, the devices were silver or aluminum for NCOs and gold for officers. When the new uniform was introduced in 1940 all devices were in white metal.

Width 66 mm Material Tombac Remarks The distinctive channel cut above the hinge is found on all Deumer-made flight qualification badges. The hinge and catch are also distinctive. The Marker Mark is the same regardless of badge. Any other mark, which varies from the shown, should be treated with extreme caution.
Iron Cross 2nd Class - Wehrmacht
The other cases of the 2nd class vary greatly. One may encounter cases with the Iron Cross motif on the lid, some without, with ribbons and even some with room for a ribbon bar.
