The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) Texas Tech University chapter was founded in 1990. Since then, this chapter has been dedicated to promoting the professional, leadership, and academic development of our members and encourage awareness in Science and Engineering studies among the Hispanic community.

The Texas Tech University SHPE chapter was initially formed by our first President, Frank Garcia. Our chapter was officially established as an organization on campus in June 1990. Throughout the years, our chapter has continued to grow in members and strive in achieving its mission of advancing Hispanics in STEM related fields.
