Talgo (officially Patentes Talgo, SAU) is a Spanish manufacturer of intercity, standard, and high-speed passenger trains. Talgo is an abbreviation of Tren Articulado Ligero Goicoechea Oriol (English: Lightweight articulated train Goicoechea Oriol ).

Talgo Series VI – Amtrak Cascades® Service. In April 1994, Renfe-Talgo of America was awarded a contract by the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) to lease a Talgo trainset for operation in the Seattle, WA to Portland, OR corridor for six months.

Hood's final run occurred on Sunday and Monday, June 28-29 as train 505/500, the only Amtrak Cascade running at the time due to COVID-19-induced service reductions. Mt. National Railroad Passenger Corporation (Amtrak) 7100-7905 are 1998 Talgo Series VI trainsets. Amtrak tested a Talgo Pendular trainset on the Seattle-Portland corridor in 1994. A separate Talgo set was leased by the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) in 1995 to provide service between Seattle and Vancouver, BC.

Under the €126m contract financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Talgo will supply 6 diesel-electric locomotives, 6 power cars, 78 air-conditioned passenger cars (30 first-class and 48 second-class) and 6 restaurant cars. Talgo will maintain the trains for 8 years under a maintenance contract valued at €32m.
