Traffic collision avoidance system - Wikipedia
A traffic alert and collision avoidance system (TCAS), pronounced / ˈtiːkæs / TEE-kas), also known as an Airborne Collision Avoidance System (ACAS), [1] is an aircraft collision avoidance system designed to reduce the incidence of mid-air collision (MAC) between aircraft.
TCAS relies on a combination of surveillance sensors to collect data on the state of intruder aircraft and a set of algorithms that determine the best maneuver that the pilot should make to avoid a mid-air collision.
We view TCAS II systems as a supplement to the pilot who has the primary responsibility for avoiding midair collisions. The TCAS II system provides no protection from threat aircraft without operative transponders. TCAS II does not alter or diminish the pilot’s basic authority and responsibility to ensure safe flight.
– TCAS II has reduced the risk of mid- air collision • Distinctions: – No detection of aircraft without or not operating transponders (e.g. VFRs, military flights)

Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System (TCAS)
2012年6月25日 · Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) is an airborne system that operates independently from the ground-based Air Traffic Control (ATC) system. TCAS was designed to increase cockpit awareness of proximate aircraft and to serve as a 'last line of defense' for the prevention of mid-air collisions.
Honeywell TCAS II Change 7.1技术白皮书说明书 - 百度文库
Honeywell is a pioneer in Traffic Collision Avoidance Systems (TCAS) development with over 300 million logged departures. Whereas the Honeywell TPA-100A Traffic Computer had an enhanced traffic detection range of up to 100nm, ADS-B Out technology now enables an even longer range of transmission and therefore detection.
OpenSky Report 2019: Analysing TCAS in the Real World using Big Data
2019年9月10日 · In this paper, we analyze 250 billion aircraft transponder messages received from 126,700 aircraft by the OpenSky Network over a two-week period. We use this data to quantify equipage and usage...
