As incredible as it sounds, Team Hydro swimmers are indeed preparing for yet another swim across the frigid San Francisco Bay from Alcatraz Island in an effort to combat the life-threatening condition known as Hydrocephalus!

The Alcatraz Swim is Team Hydro’s flagship swim. This swim requires Team Hydro Members to brave over 1.8 miles of icy currents from Alcatraz Island to San Francisco’s Aquatic Park, through the frigid (and shark-infested!) waters of the San Francisco Bay!

At Team Hydro, we seek to provide hydrocephalus researchers with seed funding that will enable them to assemble the critical mass of data necessary to bridge the gap towards the major public grants (and/or commercial development).

Kate Finlayson, the person who inspired Team Hydro’s formation, (and also happened to be a swimmer), died from complications of hydrocephalus at age 26, after acquiring the condition as a premature baby.

This beautiful swim takes Team Hydro swimmers across the historic Boston Harbor, from Piers Park Sailing Center in east Boston to the swim finish at the John Joseph Moakley US Federal Courthouse at Fan Pier in South Boston.

2024年8月10日 · As an all-volunteer organization, The Team is able to allocate 100% of funds contributed directly to research. To date, Team Hydro has raised over $1,250,000 for research, and led 100s of swimmers across the SF Bay, Boston Harbor, and Potomac River. The Swim -- Alcatraz. We have space for ~80 swimmers in this event. The swim is ~1.5 miles long.
